About your trip

**This trip is currently only open to guests who have been on a Tellus360 Ireland Trip as some point since 2012**

At long long last, guys - We’re able to present to you - The inaugural Tellus360 SCOTLAND TRIP!!

I totally understand that this might be a fairly late one to open up, but I also really feel that this is worth the wait.

What took so long to get this up and going? A few things - Primarily: Brexit. I won’t go through the amount of red tape and profanities we had to go through to do what we’re doing, but we’re finally over the line with all that messing…

Secondly - This is our first time doing a group trip like this to Scotland and I want to make sure that it’s nothing short of brilliant. Like Ireland, Scotland is absolutely jam packed with amazingness and there are so many places to visit and explore. Also, like Ireland, Scotland is very weather dependent. Our approach to this is to (just like the Ireland Trips) pick a very rough route and line up the accommodations, transport and key activities. Selecting the route was the most difficult part, and involved months of phone calls to our Scottish industry colleagues, Zooms with accommodation providers and Facetimes with our friends from years gone by. This research culminated in a 9 day recci trip to Scotland in September with a good friend of mine, Craig Trout. The post analysis of this trip left me with another itch to scratch, so I popped back over there at the end of November to check on a couple more things on the Western Coast.

The net result of the above is that we now have a route locked in, all the travel arrangements sorted, and we’re officially legally allowed to take bookings! So, while this may be a late for some of you guys to swing, Here’s what’s on the cards for the inaugural Tellus360 Scotland Trip - June, 2024!

Same as Ireland Trips and Dublin, we’re starting and finishing in Edinburgh, but will not be including any nights there.

Day 1

Day 1 image

St. Andrews and Dundee

Depart Edinburgh before lunchtime and head along the coast to St. Andrews. While best known as the birthplace of golf, St. Andrews is also a legendary university town with magnificent monastery, gorgeous beaches and a charming streetscape. We’ll take a walking tour to get us settled and then take some free time to explore.

Golfers will have an opportunity to play on this day, contact me for the details on this.

After St. Andrews it’s just a short drive to Dundee where we’re staying for the night.

Overnight Dundee 1/1

Day 2

Day 2 image

Cairngorms National Park and Aberlour

We take our time meandering our way through the Cairngorms National Park, taking in whatever spots take our fancy.

By end of the day we’ll get to Aberlour, one of the key whiskey regions of Scotland. This is home to scotch legend such as Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Macallan and the Speyside Cooperage. We lay ours heads down in a riverside down in the middle of this whisky mecca.

Overnight Aberlour 1/1

Day 3

Day 3 image

Cooperage and Inverness

We continue west to Inverness for a few hours and explore the town. It was a tough call, but in the end we’ve decided to not spend the night here. Instead, in the later afternoon we will continue west towards the Isle of Skye. While we’re not staying on this Isle, we have chosen semi-remote cosy lodgings as our home for the next two nights.

Overnight Near Isle of Skye 1/2

Day 4

Day 4 image

Isle of Skye

A full day in Skye - This will be another wide open day, with all the time in the long summer day to pop around the Isle of Skye and explore the highs and lows of the area. Whenever we’re done, we hop back to where we stayed the night before for a second night.

Overnight Near Isle of Skye 2/2

Day 5

Day 5 image

Fort William and Glencoe

A few legendary destinations lined up for day 5 - Fort Augustus, Fort William and Glencoe. The day will be spent circling the foot of Ben Nevis and the highest mountain range in Scotland. Expect more awesome mountain scenes, and a visit to one or two mega waterfalls. Tonight we will be staying in a mountain side lodge, famed for its mountain climbing heritage and lively music sessions.

Overnight Near Glencoe 1/1

Day 6

Day 6 image

Isle of Mull, Iona and Fingals Cave

Wakening, we point the bus west - Next stop Isle of Mull. Well, the next stop will be Oban, one of the two towns with a harbour that feeds across to the Isle of Mull. This is an ambitious day, so we may need to start early-ish… The plan is to get a ferry to an island (Isle of Mull), another ferry to another island (Iona), and then one more ferry to one more islands (Staffa).

The hitlist for the day includes Isle of Mull, Iona Abbey and a boat trip to Staffa Island where we will experience Fingal's Cave from the sea.

We’ll see how that one goes!

Overnight on Isle of Mull 1/1

Day 7

Day 7 image

Late off the Island, onto Oban and Inveraray

Similar to our later departures off Inis Oirr on the Aran Islands, we will be taking our time to vacate our lodgings on Mull. The mileage is light on Day 7, just looking to make a fairly simple crossing back to Oban, and then over to Inveraray. Plenty to see and do along the way, so we’ll take our time and make sure to stop in for a pint or a dram (or both) as we see fit. Not to delay too much though, as the lochside village of Inverarary also has plenty to see and do. Most notably, we’ll make sure to get there in time to tour Inveraray Castle - regarded by many of my Scottish counterparts / industry colleagues as one of the best castle experiences in Scotland.

Overnight Inveraray 1/1

Day 8

Day 8 image

Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and into Glasgow

This will be our final day in the rural and more remote parts of Scotland, so we will make sure to do our best to soak up as much of the wilderness as possible before we descent into Glasgow on day 8 of the trip. The itinerary takes us through Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, leading us into Glasgow later in the evening.

Overnight Glasgow 1/2

Day 9

Day 9 image

Glasgow

This final day will give us all plenty of time to do any last bit of shopping, whisky sampling or ancestry digging that we need to do before waving goodbye to Scotland. Glasgow is a very lively town, especially in the summertime. We will set you up with passes to tour the City, and help plan your day, but this day is all very independent.

At the end of the day, we will round out the trip with one last group dinner together.

Overnight Glasgow 2/2

Day 10

Day 10 image

Slainte, a chairde

Departure day - Glasgow is very well connected to Edinburgh City and Airport, and our hotel is right next to the Coach and Train Stations. Depending on your onward plans, we will set you up with a train to Edinburgh, or a coach straight to Edinburgh Airport.
